Zoning Systems

Why One System Struggles in Multi-Level Homes

We see this all the time. One level of the house is freezing while another is too warm. It usually comes down to a single HVAC system trying to serve multiple levels with one thermostat.

Your system only responds to where the thermostat is, typically the main floor. That means temperature differences between levels are almost unavoidable. Zoning systems can help by separating areas of the home and controlling them independently, especially when they are designed properly from the start. However, zoning is not always the best add-on for existing systems.

Once a basement becomes finished living space, comfort issues become much more noticeable. In those cases, zoning or a dedicated system per level can make a big difference in improving comfort throughout the home.
