Q: Why does my water bill increase during the summer?
A: Summer often means more water use—watering lawns, filling pools, washing cars, and hosting guests. However, a sudden spike in your water bill could also indicate a hidden leak. Check outdoor spigots, irrigation systems, toilets, and faucets for signs of wasted water. Even a small leak can add up to hundreds of gallons over time.
Plumber’s Tip: If your water usage seems unusually high, turn off all water fixtures in your home and check your water meter. If the meter continues to move, you may have a hidden leak that should be investigated.
